The guide, circular economy applied to industrial design, brings together innovative business strategies and solutions in industrial design and aligned with the circular economy; and includes about thirty practical cases of organizations that already apply them.
The main objective of the circular economy is to preserve the value of products, components and materials for as long as possible within the economy. Values that can be applied in all areas, including industrial design. This new publication of the Collection of circular economy guides, carried out by the Ecoinnovation Laboratory with the collaboration of ACCIÓ (Catalan Government’s Agency for Foreign Investment and Business Competitiveness), presents thirty strategies and innovative solutions that are already being applied in diver (suprimir esto).
Applying the fundamentals of the circular economy is particularly relevant in the field of industrial design, since its transversality affects varied economic activities. This guide identifies up to 32 circular economy strategies grouped in different categories:
1. Selection of materials for a circular design
2. Design that minimizes the consumption of resources and the waste in the productive processes
3. Design of circular solutions for distribution and logistics
4. Design that improves the management of resources in the phase of use of the products
5. Design for durability
6. Design for reintroduction to the economy
The guide shows the European project furn360 as an example that contributes to the impulse of the circular economy. Thus, Furn360 project has for objective to develop a training itinerary that facilitates the implementation of circular business models in the wood and furniture sector
